Global Company Leaders and Foreign Direct Investment Professionals in the Carolinas to Network and Discuss Opportunities and Challenges

CHARLOTTE, NC – The sixth annual Global Carolina Connections Conference – the premier conference on foreign direct investment and international manufacturing in the Carolinas – will be held on Wednesday, August 22, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Harris Conference Center in Charlotte.

Hundreds of executives and managers from foreign-owned and affiliated companies will be in attendance along with local economic development, business and government leaders for a day of presentations and panel discussions on topics of immediate relevance and importance.

“The global industrial and investment community is in a time of unprecedented change and growth, and the Carolinas are at the epicenter. We’re excited to again be a part of this robust event that brings together so many stakeholders in foreign direct investment,” said Steven Jast, Founder and President of Montreal-based ROI Return on Investment, a Diamond Sponsor of the GCC.

Jast will lead the morning presentation on “The State of Foreign Investment in the Carolinas: Challenges and Opportunities” and a breakout session on lead generation and investment attraction. The agenda also includes presentations and panel discussions on Belgian investment in the Carolinas, trends in supply chain logistics, international banking, workforce development initiatives, and international trade from leading state and local economic developers and educators.  This year’s conference will also feature presentations by two recent investors in the Carolinas, Egger Wood Products and Norafin.

“Shifting priorities and policies by governments around the world combined with quantum leaps in technological innovation by the global manufacturing and financial communities makes conferences like this all the more important. Learning and networking is a great way to stay connected to the dynamic Carolinas economy and its movers and makers,” said Tim Newlin, Executive Director, Multinational Corporations Group for J.P. Morgan, also a Diamond Sponsor.

“We are expecting our largest participation ever for GCC 2018.  We are thankful for the support of all of our sponsors, moderators and panelists for their contributions and look forward to seeing everyone there,” said Oliver Hecking, co-founder and Partner, Rödl & Partner USA.

The conference is presented by Global Carolina Communications, Rödl & Partner USA and Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein LLP and is being hosted in Charlotte for the second time after previous years in other cities around the Carolinas including Raleigh, Charleston, Columbia and Greenville.
